What is Chicken Seekh Kabab?
Basically, Chicken seekh kabab is a recipe prepared with minced meat. The minced meat (keema) has the goodness of exotic Indian Spices. Like black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cumin. Major veggies added to it are garlic, onion, and chilies.
This flavored pack minced meat is rolled along the seekhs in a cylindrical shape and then grilled out on open-air grillers, in an oven or on Tawa.
SEEKH KABABS are not only prepared with chicken but also with lamb and mutton.

Chicken seekh kabab is a basic yummy recipe. This basic has other varieties also. Chicken seekh kabab, Chicken seekh kabab masala, chicken seekh roll, chicken seekh hariyali kabab, chicken seekh malai kabab.
Not just these dry dishes are made but chicken seekh kabab is also made with gravy. It is enjoyed greatly with rumali roti (a traditional Indian bread made with flour which is extra light and flaky)
Seekh kabab is a recipe that finds it’s origin from the 20th century. It was firstly prepared by Turks (people of Turkey). So it is often referred to as a famous Turkish delight.
This is very much evident that seekh kababs originated in Turkey. As we see people in Turkish drama often enjoying them in their feasts.
Is chicken seekh kabab healthy?
Yes, it is healthy. Why? Because it is a non-fried dish. Other kabab recipes like Shami kabab, kachri kabab are either shalllow fried or deep-fried.
But chicken seekh kabab is simply grilled or barbequed. Although it includes animal fat so comparatively, it is healthy.
- 500 gm minced chicken fat
- 1 big onion chopped
- 1 cup roughly chopped cilantro
- 2-3 green chilies chopped
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- salt to taste
Combine all the above ingredients into the minced chicken. After that take the skewer (seekh) brush it with little oil. Take a ball-sized portion of chicken and roll it along the skewer. Gently press it and keep a thin layer. Follow the same procedure with other skewers/seekhs.
Once the seekhs are well laid with chicken get the open-air griller ready to grill them. Oil them with brush and keep turning the sides to grill them nicely.
In case you don’t have the griller, you can microwave them on 100 degrees and then shallow fry them in a pan.
To give it a smoky flavor put heated coal between the pan and drop oil on it. Steadily cover it with the lid. Keep it covered for 5-10 minutes. It’ll give lip-smacking flavor like that of a barbequed dish
