What is Hariyali Chicken?
Chicken Hariyali recipe or Hariyali Murg is mostly made in the kitchen of NORTHERN INDIA. It has the health benefits of the widely used green herbs in many Indian recipes. So, this yummy chicken recipe is a gravy dish. Major ingredients are coriander, mint, and fenugreek leaves. Plus ginger-garlic paste, garam masala powder, and some other ingredients.

Harayali Chicken Recipe
- 500 gm chicken
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- garlic paste 1 tsp
- 4 tbsp oil
- 4 tbsp yogurt
- 2 tsp butter
- 1 tbsp dhania powder
- 1/4th tsp black pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp roasted and grinded cumin seeds
- 1/3 tsp garam masala powder
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp dry fenugreek leaves
- a handful of cilantro leaves
- a handful of mint leaves
- 4 green chilies
- 1/2 tsp lemon juice
- 3 bay leaves
- 4 cardamoms (small)
- 1 small piece of cinnamon stick
Grind all the greens leaves along with green chilly into a fine paste. Heat oil in a pan. Add bay leaf, chopped onions, cinnamon stick, cardamoms, ginger-garlic paste, yogurt, and all other spices dry spices. Fry all this well for about 5-6 minutes. Next will go the green paste that’ll make this recipe rich in greens. Add little water to this gravy and cook with a covered lid for 5 minutes. Remove the lid stir it a bit. ( do all these steps on medium flame).
Once the gravy is ready, now add the chicken pieces to it. Add a cup of water to it to a make the chicken cook completely. Cover it and then cook for 10-15 minutes. Keep flipping the chicken and stirring the gravy in between. Once the chicken is cooked well, turn off the flame. Add lemon juice and garnish it with some crushed dry fenugreek leaves. To take this dish to next level add the magic of charcoal flavor to it.
